Response to The Handmaid’s Tale [3]

          Still the handmaid’s tale, I read it long times ago as I said in the first response. My classmates talk about the region in the class. The handmaid’s tale happens in a Religious system country Gilead.

          Religion always have the unfair feeling to the woman. I do not know why. In Bible, Virgin Mary is always representing the pure. People respect her very much. Like the handmaid’s tale, the wives always wear the blue dresses which represent the Virgin Mary. But why the status depend on the man. A man who has the knowledge can be a commander. What if a man who does not have the status? He is smart but there are no way for him to learn something to realize the value of himself like the one who’s IQ is greater than Einstein is just a farmer. And also the woman, Woman cannot read anything. At ancient China, there are a famous saying: the woman’s lacking of skill is virtue. Gilead seems obey this saying. I think at their education, the girl who was born in that country will think the writing is noble because they are not allowed. And they will obey the education that they had in the early time, like the handmaid’s presence is proper. But the first generation of the handmaid and those who has been educated in the normal school, those things will become unacceptable. So the biggest problem in the handmaid’s tale is this.

          People who cannot accepted this situation. There are two solutions for them: first: Prostitute, which means people can have the freedom like people usually had. However, they do not have any chose to have her own children. Second: Become unwoman. Which is far away from the crowd and live the world alone. Others who are being the handmaid want to revolt will be died.

          A regime living way is like this: people who listen to me lives and have a good life, whereas people revolt please to be died. Buy only people revolt always the new and fresh live will come. I am happy to see the end that the regime is finally been overturned.
